Launching USD Composer in Pixar Storm Render Mode

For those unfortunate OpenUSD enthusiasts who dont call an RTX card their own, USD Composer may crash or hang while launching due to missing RTX hardware, therefore it’s not possible for them to switch to Pixar Storm Renderer in the application.

In this case you can force the startup in Pixar Storm Render mode by following these steps:

1. click in “Options” (right next to LAUNCH button) on “Settings”

2. Click on the folder icon to open the Explorer with the installation directory.

3. edit “omni.create.bat”

change the last line to this:

call "%~dp0kit\kit.exe" "%%~dp0apps/omni.create.kit" --/renderer/enabled=pxr --/renderer/active=pxr  %*

It should look like this :

Save it.

Now when launching USD Composer the render mode will be set to “Pixar Storm”:
